What data we collect
We collect your email address when you sign up to join the house. If you choose to use Puck, our AI research companion, we may also collect anonymised research data — see the Puck section below for full details.
Why we collect it
To notify you when editions are available and to send occasional updates about the reading room. We will never email you more than is necessary.
How we store it
Your email is stored securely via Resend, a third-party email platform, and Sanity, a secure content platform. We do not sell, share, or rent your data to any other parties.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of every message. To request deletion of your data contact us directly at hello@houseofdeuxpies.com and we will action it within 30 days.
Cookies
This site uses Vercel Analytics to understand how people use the reading room. This is privacy-friendly analytics — no personal data is collected, no advertising cookies are used, and no data is shared with third parties. You do not need to consent to use this site.
Puck — AI research companion
Our site includes Puck, an AI companion gathering a living archive of human scent memory. If you choose to use Puck, you will be asked to consent before the conversation begins. By consenting, you agree that your anonymised responses may be used for research purposes, including potential publication of findings and grant applications. What we collect: scent memories, favourite scents, views on the future of smell, and optional demographic information (approximate location, age range, gender identity, urban or rural upbringing, and a self-reported scent attentiveness score). We do not collect your name or any other directly identifying information. If you provide your email address during the conversation, it is stored separately and used only to contact you about the house's work — it is not linked to your anonymised research responses. Conversations are processed by Anthropic in accordance with their privacy policy. Research data is stored securely via Sanity. We do not sell or share research data with third parties. Legal basis: consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us — however, as responses are anonymised, we may not be able to identify and delete your specific entry once submitted. You are under no obligation to use Puck. If you have any concerns, contact us at hello@houseofdeuxpies.com.
Returns and refunds
As each pomander is made entirely to order, we are unable to accept returns or offer refunds once production has begun. This is in accordance with EU Consumer Rights Directive Article 16(c), which excludes made-to-order goods from the standard 14-day right of withdrawal. If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 7 days at hello@houseofdeuxpies.com and we will make it right.

We may update this policy occasionally. The date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
