The smell
Warm, resinous, slightly bitter cloud. Deeply woody with the bark transfer.
Key quality
Bark extract rich in polyphenols with antioxidant properties. Resin has documented antiseptic and medicinal qualities.
Historical use
Used across Roman and Greek medicine with resin applied to wounds, bark infusions for respiratory complaints. The dominant guardian tree of the Provençal garrigue and Roman landscapes; its resin was harvested across the ancient Mediterranean world.
